"A Blessing of Angels" for the Season ...

"May the Angels in their beauty bless you.
May they turn toward you streams of blessing.

May the Angel of Awakening stir your heart
To come alive to the eternal within you,
To all the invitations that quietly surround you.

May the Angel of Healing turn your wounds
Into sources of refreshment.

May the Angel of the Imagination enable you
To stand on the true thresholds,
At ease with your ambivalence
And drawn in new direction
Through the glow of your contradictions.

May the Angel of Compassion open your eyes
To the unseen suffering around you.

May the Angel of Wildness disturb the places
Where your life is domesticated and safe,
Take you to the territories of true otherness

Where all that is awkward in you
Can fall into its own rhythm.

May the Angel of Eros introduce you
To the beauty of your senses
To celebrate your inheritance
As a temple of the holy spirit.

May the Angel of Justice disturb you
To take the side of the poor and the wronged.

May the Angel of Encouragement confirm you
In worth and self-respect,
That you may live with the dignity
That presides in your soul.

May the Angel of Death arrive only
When your life is complete
And you have brought every given gift
To the threshold where its infinity can shine.

May all the Angels be your sheltering
And joyful guardians."

Excerpted from To Bless the Space Between Us: A Book of Blessings
by John O'Donohue.

A perfect holiday gift, by the way, for people of all spiritual traditions.

Today, may the blessings of the Angels be yours ...

Julie,
Welcome! I thank you for your kind thoughts and I am glad you found me. I trackbacked to your site and your artwork is absolutely delightful. I adore it--the subject being two of my very favorite subjects: angels and mothers with children. Congrats on your lovely efforts!

SuZen,
Angel blessings to you, too!

How beautiful...it's going up on my bulletin board as a reminder. This book was on my Wish List. I may have to make it one of my Christmas presents to myself.

Gayle,
Glad this touched you. Yes, gift this book to yourself for sure. I treasure this and often use it in meditation or for just settling myself down. :-)

Twila,
Oh, good, happy to hear it moved you. I loved this painting too (though I couldn't discover the artist...) Thank you for your kind thoughts. It has been wonderful to get to know you this year. You inspire Me too!

I do love John O'Donohue. Such a beautiful, rich, lush prayer, filled with the Divine and the richness of love. So wonderful.

I was especially moved at the Angel of Death, since Gramma was in the hospital this past week. (She's home and doing fabulously now.)

May the Angel of Death arrive only
When your life is complete
And you have brought every given gift
To the threshold where its infinity can shine.

May we each complete our lives by bringing every given gift to the threshold to shine into infinity.

These are beautiful blessings for this season of angels. We decorated our tree today and I was surprised to see how many angels, in all forms and shapes and sizes, we have. I never noticed before and today it was comforting to think they are watching over us this year.

Nina,
Thank you for this beautiful blessing. I accept it, gratefully!

Sharon,
How fun that you noticed all those angels anew! We are trimming our tree today and I will look for angels, as well. Delightful! I do believe they are all around us...we have no idea how surrounded we are by loving energies...
