Countdown to Contentment ~ Day 18

Loving ourselves and life from where we are

I’m counting down to contentment — to the starting date of my new sacred journey course,Creating a Life of Contentment,"  which begins Sept. 15. For one entire year we will travel together as intimate companions: to relax, let go and rest into Love; to discover the bliss of our own life. I hope you will join me! You can learn all about it here.

The Color of Contentment

In the early hours of the morning I often step out the back door and into my garden. I am ever greeted by some special delight. It’s a lovely way to start my day, having the garden say hello to me in this way.

Most often it says hello in color. My eye scans the terrain to see what’s new. It is color that catches my attention. Each color has a noticeable effect on me—it’s subtle, but there.

This morning:

Deep orange/yellow of black-eyed susans: vibrancy, energy

Pale pink roses: deep ease and appreciation

White butterfly bush fronds: amazement, delight

Medium pink hibiscus: joy

My friend Diantha Harris, the author of Simply Color, states that “we can assimilate color through many avenues, and all have to do with our inborn senses: sight, smell, sound, taste, and touch.” She reminds us that color is energy and it is the “vibration” of color we respond to.

Have you noticed how color can affect your vibration, mood, thoughts, feelings?

And if you were to select a color for yourself that naturally introduces feelings of contentment, what would it be?

Once selected, Diantha suggests that we can use color in many ways to enhance our well-being, not just by looking at it, but in these unique ways:

Smell = Scents, essential oils, flowers
Sight = Visualizations with color, things around us in the environment, the visual sight of foods
Sound = Music, toning
Taste = Eating foods
Touch = Clothing, bed and table linens, blankets, gems and stones*

If you are in need of an extra dose of contentment today, consider bringing some extra splashes of color into your day and notice the effect it has upon your ability to live with greater ease, satisfaction, joy....

In your world, what does the color of contentment look like?

∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞

“Along with sound and form, color is the agent employed by God in the creation of all that’s miraculous—eyes and skin, rubies and emeralds, exotic fish and flowers ...”

Phillippa Merivale

EWWW, fun question...Green is def my color for contenment, especially the earthy, olive, muted tones. I have done the psychology of colors in the past. Green is the color of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. This color has great healing power. It is the most restful color for the human eye; it can improve vision. Green suggests stability, hope and endurance.

Creating a Life of Contentment is going to be wonderful and full of wisdom....xo

For me, the colors of light blue and light green bring me a huge sense of peace and contentment. Don't know why, but I'm always drawn to anything that has those those two colors, together.

Coleen and Cindy, I am in agreement with you that blues and greens definitely bring feelings of peace and calm. In recent years, I have brought more blue into more home and it feels very good. :-)

contentment is sweet, soft, and calm for me--a soft, warm pink that embraces and holds. soft texture, soft inside, soft smell, soft touch...all about softening, not efforting...
